Flynn Gold (ASX: FG1) has commenced a maiden diamond drilling (DD) program at the promising Double Event prospect within its Golden Ridge gold project in Northeast Tasmania.

Less than a week after the company announced it was raising $3 million to support exploration at its Tasmanian projects, the program will test the high-grade quartz-sulphide veins it identified in recent trenching to the east and west of historical workings at the prospect.

That trenching confirmed a mineralised corridor of at least 275 metres, with observations from one trench in particular suggesting the total strike extent may continue to approximately 330m.

Series of Short Holes

The maiden DD program at Double Event will involve a series of short holes, with the first at a depth of 70m, approximately 20m below the historical Double Event shaft.

Historical state government reports describe a quartz vein up to 0.9m wide returning assays up to approximately 133.7 grams per tonne gold from the base of the shaft, which was never previously tested by drilling.

Flynn geologists recently confirmed the presence of high-grade gold in this area by sampling mineralised quartz float from mullock dumps to the shaft, trenches and (now collapsed) adit.

The company has also successfully validated historical reports of high-grade quartz-sulphide veins within the Double Event mineralised zone.

Significant Discovery Opportunity

Chief executive officer Neil Marston said the trenching results at Double Event suggest it is one of the most significant discovery opportunities Flynn has identified  to date.

“The first diamond drilling program will test beneath the historical workings and recent trenches to provide critical insights into the continuity and depth extent of mineralisation first reported more than a century ago,” he said.

“With drilling now underway and further assays pending, we are looking forward to unlocking the true potential of this underexplored prospect.”

Double Event sits approximately 1km north of Flynn’s high-grade Trafalgar prospect.
